Why get so worked up about an animal that doesn’t even have a natural home on the continent we live on? Why not stand up for starving children, the elderly, war, conflict, or famine?

Finally, we have evidence that there is a tangible connection between wildlife trafficking and the security of humans. Ivory is funding some of the largest criminal and extremist organizations in the world and it doesn't take long to understand why when ivory is more profitable than raw diamonds.
Bryan Christie, an award-winning author and journalist, recently tracked two tusks to the front door of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), Joseph Kony who, alone, has created an army of more than 60,000 children, all of which he kidnapped, some as young as three years old. He has even broadened his reach from Uganda to the Central African Republic, trading ivory directly to the Sudanese government in exchange for AK-47's.
Think about that for a second ... tusks for AK-47's.
